Aberdeen University adds planning courses
The University of Aberdeen has launched two further postgraduate programmes in planning and surveying in response to increasing demand for skilled planning professionals.
There will be an MSc in Urban Planning and Real Estate, and an MSc in Rural Planning and Environmental Management. Applications are open for September starts in both.
The one year courses are dual-accredited by the RTPI and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The rural planning course will also be offered part-time over two years.
Bill Neill, professor of spatial planning, said: Predictions suggest that the built and natural environment industry will experience a grave shortage of professionals within specific areas of the sector in the near future.
The new degrees are an immediate reaction to this imminent skills shortage.
