A church restoration project and a new bus interchange are among the five winners of the RICS (The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) Wales awards 2008.

The award ceremony, held in the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, saw the restoration of Nant Clwyd House in Ruthin being given the building conservation award, the Metropole Conference and Cultural Centre in Abertillery taking the community benefit title, Skomer Island, Pembrokeshire winning the sustainability award and The Blackwood Bus Interchange scooping the regeneration title.

The overall Welsh Project of the Year award was given to the conservation of St Teilo's Church, Llandelilo.

Commenting on the restoration of Nant Clwyd House, judges said: "The work done is an inspirational tribute to all involved in its magnificent restoration. The house, located in the centre of the ancient market town of Ruthin, has enabled visitors to enjoy the history and experience the atmosphere of this unique place. This exceptional project is an outstanding example of unobtrusive intervention.
